Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are one of the best services offered in any dental office. Teeth can become broken down over time due to chewing forces, failing fillings that have outlived their usefulness or decay spreading and weakening teeth.
A crown covers the entire tooth. In the past, gold was the only material available to be made into crowns, and many years ago porcelains were developed that could be fused to a gold framework (called “porcelain fused to metal”, or PFM, crowns).
In recent years, all-porcelain crowns have become more common. Bonded in place, they look and feel more natural than PFM crowns and the bonding process creates a more healthy tooth than a cemented crown. CAD/CAM technology has entered the fray as well, so crowns in a single visit are an option as well.
